По результатам проведенных измерений участники экспедиции смоделировали предполагаемую траекторию падения болида и сделали цифровую трехмерную модель озера. При этом выяснилось, что конус на дне озера имеет еще сужение с некоторым уклоном к северу, совпадающим с предполагаемой траекторией полета болида. Более того, на дне водоема под слоем ила исследователям по данным гравиметрической съемки удалось выявить некий сверхплотный объект диаметром больше 10 м.
Быть может, это и есть столь долго разыскиваемый остаток Тунгусского метеорита?
Чтобы получить ответ на этот вопрос, итальянцы надеются провести разведочное бурение на глубину порядка 50 м следующим летом.

Однако, как говорится, факты — упрямая вещь.
А они таковы. В 2006 году молодой канадский ученый Нейл Баннерджи из университета Западного Онтарио решил испытать новый лазер-плазменный масс-спектрограф, изготовленный его коллегами из Университета Альберты (Канада).
Прибор этот отличается от других тем, что позволяет выявить даже ничтожные количества органических остатков в любых породах. А где их меньше всего? В тех породах, что возникли на заре существования планеты.
Тем не менее, в горах Австралии, самых старых на Земле, в ходе исследования пород архейского периода, которым, по меньшей мере, 3,35 млрд. лет, исследователь вдруг обнаружил частицы органики. Это само по себе стало сенсацией: ведь ранее возраст первых живых существ на нашей планете определялся по крайней мере в 2,7 млрд. лет.
Но на том дело не кончилось. К исследованиям канадского коллеги подключились сами уроженцы Зеленого континента. Экспедиция, организованная Австралийским центром астробиологии в горы Пилбара на западе Австралии, установила, что местные скалы, возраст которых насчитывает 3,5 млрд. лет, являются строматолитами — породами, возникающими вследствие жизнедеятельности синезеленых водорослей (цианобактерий)!
Наконец, летом 2007 года специалисты Канадского космического агентства снарядили экспедицию в горы на границе провинций Онтарио и Квебек, где горные породы еще старше. Но и там были обнаружены следы вездесущей жизни…
С одной стороны, у ученых в руках оказался инструмент, позволяющий с высокой степенью точности диагностировать следы древней органики. С другой, есть о чем задуматься. Ведь теперь придется пересматривать с учетом новых данных прежние теории возникновения жизни на нашей планете.
Как варили «первичный бульон»
Одна из самых распространенных теорий гласит, что жизнь зародилась в так называемом «первичном бульоне», из которого состоял Мировой океан 3–4 млрд. лет назад. В его воде были, вероятно, двуокись углерода, метан и аммиак — простые соединения, имеющиеся, по крайней мере, на некоторых других планетах Солнечной системы.
С набором таких веществ химики в XX веке попытались повторить процесс, который, по их мнению, мог некогда самопроизвольно произойти на нашей планете. Для этого они воспроизвели и условия, которые, по их мнению, существовали некогда на юной Земле. В сосуд с исходной смесью они подавали энергию в виде электрических разрядов, имитирующих молнии, освещали содержимое ультрафиолетовой лампой (ведь Солнце излучает и ультрафиолет), даже подогревали, решив, что «бульон» вполне мог нагреться, скажем, в результате вулканических процессов.
